Back on the blog

It has been a month since my last post.  I have 2 ready but just have to fiddle with the photos before I publish.  The first is about my trajedy at Leadville, if you haven't already figured it out I timed out just before mile 70.  The second is about our trip to Montana, Sophie and I spent a week on Whitefish Lake after Leadville.

My next post will be about Wasatch '08.  The great news is that I finished..... 34h 9 seconds!  I had a blast.  I had 3 awesome pacers.  Sarah returned for the 5th year, and Julie and Anne were new for this year.  I had so much fun with my pacers.....which could quite possibly be why I was slower because we gabbed the whole way.  I had 2 major issues, both of which I was able to turn around so that left me with a very positive feeling after Leadville.  The first was my right IT band, from mile 20-40 it was screaming, but I got it to settle down.  The second was my stomach.  I don't think it had recovered from Leadville and I suffered 3 bouts of nausea, fortunately they all occurred at or near the AS.  I fortunately was able to turn it around, even with active dry heaves at Brighton mile 75.  In my Wasatch post I will reveal my nausea healing secret.........

My DNF at Leadville means that I am out of the Grand Slam.  Out of 30+ there are 6 slammers left, 2 of which are women!  I will not be going to Arkansas, I am not sad about that.  The funny thing is that I scored a killer hotel deal at Super 8 for the AT100....$8.00 hotel room, non-refundable.  It is just like me to find a bargain that costs me more in the end.

I am recovering well from Wasatch.  I worked the following day, Monday, which wasn't bad.  Now I am enjoying the beautiful September early fall in Utah.  Yesterday I cleaned my windows and I pruned my currant bushes.  Today Peter and I are going to trim our Maple tree, we were very sad to lose a mature Maple this summer but I hear that a lot of maples in the neighborhood died.  Fortunately our Japanese maples x2 are fine.  We are going to trim the little branches and I want to save the trunk for a bird feeder...... maybe chainsaw art!  We are also going to buy a new back door so we can cut a cat door.  Our spoiled kittens have been able to come and go at night thru the window and this will have to stop before we turn on the furnace.  Oh, and we will be having a pesto making assembly line, the basil in the garden is abundant and we must prepare for winter.
